Yep, another AC and Breather thread
Appreciate any insight. 11 RK... Just did decat stock pipe (ebay), 4" jackpots and VIED at 25%. All good. Want to try AC....tuner after if VIEDs can't handle it.
So, either big sucker or heavy breather. Would really like heavy breather with black teardrop cover. BUT looks like $500+.....$160 for the freakin cover? Then I need a TBW cover or looks like hell?
Either way would like to eliminate crankcase vent dump into throttle body at same time. The mushroom filter bolts from DK, I believe, seem interesting. Do they work, and fit with either the sucker or breather...and TBW cover? Doubt I will route out via tubes and such....I get little to no oil in stock AC, just figure keep it out of throttle body and combust chamber if I can without much hassle.
So, figured one of the experts here has figured this all out and save me hours of research. Thanks in advance!

as far as looks, that is up to you...$660 vs $125 for the Ness.
performance difference is marginal.
so you are paying for looks. ( the Ness is a much easier install and a better value than most of the others)
recirculating crankcase vapors to the intake has been standard on cars since about 1962.
A motor in "good condition"* should not produce any vapors the intake can't handle
and goop from the intake has never been a factor on my '95 or '09 ( my other bikes are not "head breathers").
so I'd proceed with a standard install if I were you.
be careful with the O rings and gaskets.
If you really need you could redirect the vapor later- some have installed little tubes to better direct the vapor to the throat, or you could dump it to the ground- make sure you aren't painting your rear tire with oil...
Mike
* this is again part pf the "break it in" discussion- how the rings mate to the cylinders affects the motor through it's entire service life.
and factors such as oil level, oil type , condition of the umbrella valves etc. all contribute.
HD's since 1993 have been head breathers and the oil tank located below the motor solves the gravity feed of oil past the check ball into the sump on earlier models.

Ness. and buy the Ness horn cover as well of which a timer cover fits in perfectly.
Then you can spend your $$$ on 4 matching covers. 2 timer covers, 1 primary and 1 AC and still be in under the $500 for 1 AC kit, if that makes sense?
I used these guys and the quality is first class.

Looks real classy.
You will see just exactly how cheap your stock covers are then when you replace them.

Vent the breather to the ground and be done with it. I tried numerous A/F and backing plate set-ups and still got oil in the filter. The copper tubing mod does work but your still putting oil and other junk into the TB which is not a good thing.
