Default I am tire ignorant and need help

I am just going to say it...I need tire information. I currently have a 07 RKC with laced wheels. I am assuming that these tires require an innertube. Do all laced wheels require innertubes? Is there any advantage to tires with tubes or radials? I have a plug kit that I have used with past radial tires, but will not work with innertubes. What is the best way to patch a innertube if out on the road? Do I use some liquid filler, or just keep filling with air until I can get to a location to fix the tire. I am sorry if these are stupid questions, but I am raising my freak flag of ignorance for some help.

Get out your cell phone and call for a tow. To fix the intertube, you need to get the wheel off the bike--not an easy thing to do with no centerstand and no bike lift.

What he said , your pretty much screwed if you get a flatwith a tube. That is one reason why I had the dealer switch the lace wheels with cast b-4 I took delivery of my FLHT!

The main reason that I have heard for not using it is that it will void your tire warrenty. But IMO when it's a choice of keeping going or being stranded let me think about that Guess I risk the warrenty. It is true that the stuff will throw the balance off IF you don't follow the instructions. You have to get the tire spinning so that it will coat evenly. If you don't it will congeal at the bottom and then your screwed. I have never had to use it on tube tires so I can't say if it will work or not.

Yours require a tube, but not all. Some aftermarket laced wheels are sealed and are thus tubeless.

Is there any advantage to tires with tubes or radials?
No, laced wheels a negative in my book, their only virtue being appearance if you like the look. Radials aren't recommended by Harley and I've never tried them. Not sure why they wouldn't work, though, unless the chassis isn't tuned for them in some way.

These are good questions. I'm not sure about fillers such as Green Slime on a tubed tire, although they may do in a pinch for tubeless. You can fix a Harley tire on the road, BTW., tubed or tubeless. First, find a nice, soft grassy spot; lay the bike down carefully; and remove the wheel, then the tire. It takes about three hours if you have the right tools and a source for air pressure.
