Front tire Wide Whitewall
Hi Guys,
I put some time in this morning looking for wide whitewalls for this winters maintenance. I am having a problem with the front tire. Seems i can find the rear, but not the front in wide whitewall. 17" rim in the front, 16" on rear. The stock tire is 130/80B17 can and do they make a substitute size? On my Chevelle, i can choose different sizes as long as the tire fits on the rim. I cannot seem to find a chart that gives width and diameters on motorcycle tires.

Yeah, this is a truly baffleing problem. To my knowledge, there are NO high end, quality 130/17 inch wide white walls. But check ebay, there are cheap asian Kendas and one other brand. I forget the name. One would think Avon or Metz would step up, but they simply have not.

Guys,
Do you think I am looking at new rims, or atleast the front rim to get a wide whitewall on?
I have the aluminum and black that riquires a few hours each spring to clean up for the summer. My FXDWG2 had chrome rims and with a wash and quick windex, I was done. I think the bike would look great with Wide WhiteWalls. At that point, I would need to know the conversion for height and width

I would think Hogpro could set you up with a rim. But it would be a 16. I run non matching rims, and it doesn't bother me a bit. I am just waiting for my back tire to wear out so I can get a www for the rear. My narrow white wall does show through, and at least the tires should somewhat match. IMHO.
It just sucks that you have to go through all this trouble and expense because some beancounters somewhere won't make a 17 inch wide white wall!

I am going to say that a 140/80/17 will fit. That is the WWW I ran on my VTX.

I'm pretty sure Metzler has one in that size too.

I found a calculator on the internet for tires.
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos
Looks like overall height only changes .5" and width is less than .25" height goes down and it gets the .25 extra width. I like it!!!
I'd rather clean white walls that the aluminum rims
Thank you all
