First, if your worried, yes...... you can upgrade your stator to a higher output unit but its most likeley not needed. Second, intall a gauge. That will tell you if your charging or not. Lastly, as others have mentioned, both my wife and me run heated gear, as well as GPS, and her IPOD. Never had a discharge issue.

My OL & I ride 2-up on an '11 Street Glide with both of us wearing Gerbing jacket liners and gloves -- often cranked on high. I've had no problem with the electrical system keeping up. (Note: I don't have passing lamps and typically don't use the radio.)
I spoke to Harley. The said the new 50 amp systems on the touring bikes is more than enough to handle a jacket liner, gloves and pants. The guy looked at the graph i saw and thinks its an old chart from the older electrical system
