Satin finish Engines and Road King
I'm hoping someone can give me an answer to this: I have a 2000 FLHP, off-lease police Road King. I've always wanted a Road King, and buying an off-lease one gave me the ability to finbally get one.
BUT, I had a guy looking at it the other day, and he asked if it used to be an Electra-Glide?!?
I asked him why he wanted to know and he said that he noticed mine had the satin-finish engine, and he didn't think HD ever put the satin finish engine in a Road Kintg.
Can someone tell me if this is the case, or not?
Thanks

RE: Satin finish Engines and Road King
I thought that all Road Kings came with black and chrome engines also. However, it looks like the early Twin Cams had silver engines. Here's a 2000 with a silver engine...

I was assigned a 2001 during the MoCo's Motor School. It had a black and chrome engine.

WHEW!!! Thanks for showing me that. Nothing against EG's. It's just that I've ALWAYS wanted a Road King, and when he said that I felt a little deflated. I like the Black/Chrome look more, but as long as I know my bike hasn't been Frankenstein'd I'm O.K. with the silver engine.

Has anyone changed the silver to black?
There is a ceramic based paint that I used on headers, it worked great no flaking under extreem heat..
Not that the silver doesn't look great with polished covers... just personal preference..
Just a thought....

Police departments or the dealer leaseing to PD's once ordered their bikes made the cheapest way. No black/chrome motors, then they figured out they could get more money return when selling the used bike if they added the black and chrome motor. Most do this now but some departments still stick with the plain janes.
