Bugs baked on to fairing lowers
I've got the fairing lowers off and I'm trying to clean them up in the livingroom.
First tried soaking them in soapy water. That didn't work.
Been using Goo Gone for the last 1/2 hour, it's not working either.
I'm talking about baked on bug guts. Anyone got experience with this sort of thing?

Yer gonna doubt me....but iffen you'll try it you'll believe me.
Hydrogen peroxide. Soak a rag with it, lay it on the bodies, an' keep it dampened w/it.
Should take 30-45 minutes, mebbe a li'l more or less.
Jest remember ya heard it from an ex-Goldwing rider...

Try Maguires cleaner wax, not the one with rubbing compound, it will scratch the paint.
You can also leave them in the bathtub with Dawn dish washing soap and very warm water for an hour or so, then wax the heck out of them. I had to do that with my windshield.

Go to your local Advance Auto Parts store, if you have one in your area, and pick up a Sea-Foam product called "Bugs-B-Gone". It neutralizes the bug guts using enzymes or something like that. Then using warm soapy water the baked on guts normally come right off. I've been using the stuff for a couple years now on both my scoot and my motor coach and its always worked as promised.
If you don't have a Advance Parts store near you, here's a link to the Sea Foam web page.

RE: Bugs baked on to fairing lowers
I,ve had good luck with the h/d brand of spray cleaner/wax. just spray it on and wait about 5 min. and they wipe off. Also the suggestion of a clay bar is probably not a bad idea. as the paint ages/ and to git rid of microscopic scratches/where bugs hang on to, I use it on all my street rods, and have used it on my bike. it will make the paint a lot smother. Just be sure to wax afterwards for more protection. Dan
