Just need to bend the little tab things in a little. Then it will be tight.

I admit I do smoke and use mine all the time. Have not lost a lighter yet.

My lighter was missing when I bought the bike. I bought a new one for 19.95 to get the boot that comes from HD. The new one was so loose I didn't put it in until I could get home and bend the tabs. Hasn't been a problem in 18K miles. Positive lock feel when replacing it. My car with one socket is loose too and bending the tabs works until you plug in the cel phone adapter and it bends them back out. If you turn the adapter so the contacts aren't where the tabs are it wont bend them back out but training your wife to think about that when she is plugging the phone in is......well nuff said.

My thoughts too .....

How do you do this? Do you have to take the front fairing off?

Most likely you did not get it in all the way.
When putting it back in push til you feel a slight tap. I can feel it. When it is in all the way you can not see a gap between the rubber seal or the chrome outer..
I have dropped a few in cold weather due to being clumsy with gloves but never had one fall out.

You should disconnect the battery or pull a fuse or something first and then look into the socket and locate the two tabs that grasp whatever you insert into there (a lighter) and using a small flathead screw driver bend them towards the center of the socket. That pretty much does it.

Just take a look and you'll see what I mean. Simple.
