Fuel door has way more glare than the inner. And is at an angle that gets more sun in the reflection zone for longer periods during the day. I think to get a bad glare off of the inner it would need to be late in the day with not much sunlight left. My painted inner was free to me or I probably would not have done it but it made a heck of a difference in the look.
There is a reason they are painted in a non reflective black.
Those shiny painted fairing look cool for show but in the real world they like to blind you on those sunny days. Not good for the safety factor.
The inners on the 2014s come from the factory painted Vivid Black.
When I 1st saw the glossy fairing I didn't like it would rather have the flat black like on the standard SG but I'm hoping it will grow on me. I have no desire to color coordinate it with the rest of the bike.
Had it installed on my 2012 SG, love it, love it, love it!
As a couple others have said, I think it's actually easier to clean than the original.
Someone had a question a while back about sun reflection and I have not had that isssue at all.
Hey Ray! Inner looks great! Was wondering which gauges you were using? and trim rings? They look great! I have a 2012 as well and might steal your idea, lol.

I'm getting a 14 Street Glide Special in a couple of weeks. Wasn't real happy about a glossy inner fairing to get my finger prints all over.....
How are you getting along with the glossy inner fairing?
Love it on my 2014 Limited. Since I have the Charcoal gray pearl and vivid black, it's actually "color matched". No glare issues for me. It shows the dust but no more than the outside paint. But I would think its easier to dust clean than the mat finish.
