I would give it two weeks and you won't think twice about how loud it is...lol... You will have the permanent Rinehart smile!!

You can always send your stock mufflers for a recore at Fullsac. I have 3 1/2 Rineharts on a Street Glide with the true duals that sound great. Not quite as loud or deep as the 4", but they pop real nice. You can spend a lot of money trying to get the sound you like. Harleys seem to like loud....

I agree with Webo here. He is a great guy and full of honest advice. Straight shooter.

I love my Rineharts. And they seem to sound better once broken in.

I say follow Webo's advice. give it a couple of weeks. if you're not happy and they're still too loud then

  • there are no differences to my knowledge in baffles on the stock mufflers
  • send your stock mufflers to Steve @ Fullsac and he'll recore them for you with a baffle that suits your needs.
and FWIW I call BS on the comment "a harley can't be too loud". That has to be from a youngster. :-)

sound is the most subjective topic next to oil types. What sounds good to one may not and most likely will not sound good to another. I myself bought my 12 FLHTK from the dealer new with 2:1 fatcat setup on it. It took me about 2 months of trying to get used to it to say f-it! Those things were obnoxious at cruising speeds and I went through 4 sets of pipes (TH, Rinehart 3.5 and 4") before deciding on the Freedom Performance Classics based on a recommendation from Doc in Florida. I couldn't be happier.

I've heard MANY Harleys that were too loud for me, but I'm sure the owners liked them. My 2002 Fat Boy with V&H Big Shots had an awesome sound to it. I wish I could get that again on my 2014 Limited.

The combination of those do nothing, all metal baffles and that hidden chamber between the pipes gave that 02 Fat Boy a nice Potato, Potato low rumble at idle and a screaming bark at 3-4k, but then I probably couldn't hear the nice sound system I have now.

I have the V&H slipshots on mine, luv them. Your mufflers will "season" a bit after some heat, the stock mufflers suck, I put them on at trade in.

The V&H slipshots are fairly quiet at idle, but have that nice rumble going down the road.

My RK is too loud for me but have been told it is too quite? It is all about the listener! Yes the stock pipes have different baffles left/right and would be a bad choice with true duals. I say pick up a set of Fatshotz and tune in the volume ya want.
