Default Handlebars on the RKC

I have had a few problems with my handlebars lately, I just recently had the stealership replace the stock RKC beach bars with the "herritage" type bars because over long trips i felt that i was reaching for the bars and had to lean up at all times, putting stress on my back. So far I have not been at all pleased with the herritage bars at all it seems the i still have to lean foward towards the bars. I am about 5'9' and apparently I have some what short arms. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what bars to use i have heard of the extended reach bars from HD and the wild ones 508 type bar. I would like to replace the bars myself this time, so i don't have to mess with the dealership and the extra money. If anyone has had this trouble let me know which bars ya chose. Thanks, Kemp

BTW my bike has cruise and the radio harley offers.

I really like the Wild One 508's on my '07 Road King Classic. They have about 4 inches more pullback than stock, and are 1-1/4 inches in diameter with a great quality chrome. Although they will supposedly work with stock cables, we went with +2 inches on the throttle, idle, and brake cables and used the stock length clutch cable. The wiring harness had to be extended a couple of inches to fit - my dealer said that the factory shortened the harness on the '07's. The 508's provide a much more upright position, and allow you to bend your elbows. The hand position is a little more "wheelbarrow" angle, but after a month, they felt very natural.

With the way the Heritage bars are bent, you may be able to rotate them back and down to help your situation. I had a similar probelm and the Road King High bars have been great for me. All stock wiring / cables work.

Are the Road King High bars also refered to as Road King Pullback bars? The Road King High bar # seems to use both names for the same thing. Has anyone else had confusion with this?

How hard is it to rotate the bars back? I would rather not take it to the dealer, i would like to do it myself.

Would that be a Road King Classic or a Road King Custom.
RKC is rather ambiguous......Just sayin'!

It's not difficult, but it's not straightforward either. You have to remove the headlamp to access the handlebar clamp. Here is a link that might help:

Yup, same bars different name. Went to the dealer and had the same confusion, had him pull the part # up on the computer. Same #, same bars, different names. Wierd. But I opted out and went for the WO518's. Couldnt be happier. Looks great, feels great!!
