Thats where harder (higher grade) is not always better, sometimes a bolt that will stretch is better in an application. People who use grade eights in everything are often asking for trouble. It will take a lot to shear one, but that is not always best. If this is indeed the OP's case. Didn't read all the posts.

Having read the thread, my bike being 8 years old and I couldn't remember ever checking the Jiffy Stand bolt for tightness, I did.... Well it's tighter than turtle *****. Issues with the Jiffy Stand are nada. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I usually park on my Wheeldock centerstand which allows me to roll off going forward. Occasionally I use the jiffy stand, and depending how I'm parked, sometimes forget to put the stand up (dumb, I know, but have seen lots of other folk do it as well. Still no excuse). I'm thinking that if the stand gets kicked back by contact with the pavement when moving, some of this force might result in that sheared off part. Not saying the OP ever did this, but since I have, I might just pull that puppy apart and see if I am showing any stress in this area. I have to think I might be...

Well, obviously yours has failed. But that is the first time I have ever seen that happen.
There is a first time for everything.

They did not break on my 07,08,09, 10,10, 11, 12, 12,12 and 13. They are all out in the garage resting on the jiffy stand. No need to replace the bolt on any of them. Just check them at the period service.

A loose bolt will shear very fast.

You mean they haven't broken YET!
It broke right through the boss and the bolt.
look at the picture I provided
And it wasn't a loose bolt.
a 12 month old bike costing $32000.00 in Au worthless because of a 2 bit Chinese stand!!!
Outrageous and they are trying to fight me about warranty.

On an item like this, if the dealer was worth two knots of goat manure he would just eat the cost of replacing it and not even worry about getting the MOCO to stand by the warranty. If it comes down to this, you might have to remind the owner or general manager that it is a two way street when it comes to repeat sales. All dealers have "discretionary money" available for unusual things like this.

800 kilos, damn, no wonder it broke...its only a little over 360kilos and 800 pounds. no worries though....it reminds me to have mine checked at next service as i get a little roll if i park on the down slope. it just rolls a bit and makes me jump every time. tuff luck for sure. hope the next bolt works better for you.
