If the used Ultra has ABS I would get it. Someone else took the depreciation hit and probably added some goodies to it too.

I had a 2009 street glide loved it until my wife started to ride with me again I was going to add speakers to the saddle bag lids so she could hear the radio I put progressive 944's on it and it still was a sow's ear not a silk purse they don't call them ultras for nothing

As much as I like the looks of these things without the tour pack I use mine literally every day.If you plan on commuting or traveling, especially with a passenger get the Ultra. You never said what year the Ultra was.

Get a 2014 Ultra! You can always adapt it so it looks like an SG, more expensive the other way around.

My general motto is to buy as new as you can afford.

Best bet is a test drive.
I bought my sgs because when I drove an ultra it was heavier feeling getting it off the stand. The sgs feels lighter and more agile around the twisties. However I really have not ridden an ultra 'cept on a demo. Having 700 miles on my '14 sgs I am real happy with her. Especially the handling. either way you will be happy most likely.

If you ride alot and carry stuff, ultra hands down. You can always get a detachable tp kit and have both bikes.

rode today defiantly like the ultra, the stock SG setup feels like im on a mini bike, knees in my chest and elbows in my ribs. i can fix that with mods but the 11 ultra classic already fits. it is way better on wifes back and i dont have music on my i phone i still listen to cds
