The reflex linked brakes were one of the main reasons why I went for a 14 Street Glide.

I had an R1200RT a few years ago and when a car pullled out in front of me I was very glad to have linked brakes on that bike.

I think the reflex brakes are very well thought out, although I hope I never have to slam on the anchors ,but you never know when that day will be and if it happens then I think it just gives me a better chance to avoid an accident.

I also often have a pillion on the back and it is just a safety feature I wanted.

Brushing the rear brakes while entering a turn at speed or u-turning is a common practice.

I thought linked brakes would be a big safety upgrade, but with ABS, I'm wondering if it compromises turning maneuvers. Your thoughts?
Does not effect the braking before turning that you are describing. Honda has had the linked braking for year but Harley has improved it but not having them link until about 25 mph if I remember correctly.

I don't recall the brand, but I saw a drum-brake bike with cable-linked brakes, way back. Guzzi introduced hydraulic ones in the 70s on their V-twins and they have featured on and off on various brands ever since. Hydraulics makes it much easier than cables! Cars have of course had linked brakes for decades, so this is not new 'technology', although the addition of ABS electronics makes it easier on bikes.

I had a 2000 Honda VFR that had linked brakes (no ABS) and it always worked beautifully... Due to the weather here I don't have a ton of time on my 2014 yet but so far I'm very pleased and the bike just stops...

I do want to get my butt into a parking lot and give the bakes a real test to see how the linked works at slow speed. I'm a trained rider, you know the guys who can put a Harley tourer through courses that it doesn't look like it should fit through and it's a lot of rear brake and clutch control. If it's engaging that front brake at slow speed I'm going to have to re-learn everything I have done for many years because front brake on a slow speed turn is a recipe for disaster...

The Linked Brakes on a harley WILL NOT WORK under 20 miles an hour....if they did...you will GO DOWN with the slower speeds...so on the harley...it only engages at around 20 MPH or above!

No. The ABS controller is completely different, as is the ECM and associated wiring.

I'm confused about this thread? I am not trying to start anything but linked brakes are not new. They have been offered since at least 2012. For the people that traded their 2012 or newer big tourers (not SG or RK) I do not believe there is a difference. Please feel free to educate me but I know someone who has a 2012 Ultra and it came standard on his.

You're mistaken. Harley's first application of linked brakes is the 2014 Touring line.

It's more likely his bike has ABS, but not linked brakes.

Doing a quick search, I see multiple 2012 with linked brakes as a standard application. 2014 introduced the "Reflex" system which just appears like a new component design.
