Cool Long Ride Shields Customer Service Poll

I joined this forum as a way to re-connect with the latest happenings, parts, tips etc. about Harley Davidson as I sold my last Harley in 1998 (Young kids, no time) and recently purchased a 2009 Ultra Classic in September of this year (Older kids more time, and loving it).

So with that being said I was in the market for a taller windshield because I am 6'6" tall. I saw some posts of fellow members recommending Long Ride Shields and how they were a good product.

I purchased a new LRS on 9/16/13. The windshield is perfect and everything I needed.

On 10/17/13 I come across a post from a LRS staff member on this forum and in his signature it states enter HDF20 and save 20% off of the price of the shield.

I email him and ask if I could receive the 20% credited to my account since I did not know about this discount (until I saw his signature yesterday). He replies, No it has been over a month (1 day over, really?)

I tell the story to a couple of friends and they agree that it would be good customer service to return the 20% to my card. However, Long Ride Shields does not feel that way.

Am I way off on this, or should they credit my card?

I'm voting for "way off on this"

Feeling ripped off? Ask yourself this: are you happy with the product?

If yes - then stop worrying about the sale you "just missed" and enjoy the ride.

If no - send it back for a !00% refund to your card and buy something less expensive that you may feel is a better deal.

How would you reply to LRS if the roles were reversed. For example, the price of a shield purchased on (insert date here) went up 20% the day after you bought it. Would you agree to send LRS the difference because it was only 1 day over?

If he did it, It would be nice. If he doesn't, you should no way for fault him for it.
My opinion.

Should have done your research before you bought, asking for a discount over a month after you purchased.

My vote would be NO, you shouldn't get a refund.
And yes LRS has great service, prices and great customer service!

I am happy with the product. I did forget to mention that when I ordered the product, they asked me how I knew about Long Ride Shields and I entered HD Forums. At that point it should have made them think I was a member here.

The bottom line for me is, that $20 is not going to break me. If it were, I would not have bought a Harley.

However, I still believe good Customer Service is money well spent.

On a side note, I do find it comical how one person reply said, "What if the roles were reversed and LRS contacted you a month later because they raised their prices."

It is what it is..... Thanks for the comments.....

I went to buy one earlier this month and the forum code did not work. I emailed them and got a response with in minutes that the discount was not available during the sale. But if I wanted one of the shields not on sale they would be happy to give me the discount. I replied I wanted the 8 inch flat top. They emailed me an invoice with the discount applied. This was some of the best customer service I have ever received. I not only loved the service but also the product. They have a loyal customer in me.

I have bought multiple windshields from them and their service has always been great. I had a shield with a little warp in it and they immediately sent me a new shield.
