Headlight opinions
I have narrowed down my choice to either the Trucklite or possibly just a brighter replacement bulb.
The TL is around 200 on ebay
My buddy just replaced his headlight bulb with some aftermarket (xenon maybe) and he said that he was happy with it.
Any input?
I was ready to spend the dough on the TL but if I can get away cheaper I am for that as well...

I went thru the same decision-making process and went with the Trucklite - headlight and passing lamps combo. Very pleased, and very much better nighttime visibility. Don't need to deal with wiring BS or (potentially) unreliable ballast configs/etc. One thing to be aware of is that the TL setup works great with the passing lamps to better illuminate roadsides, but with just a HL you may notice less light illuminating the sides when you head thru twisties. YMMV.

I thought about running some crashbar mounted lights eventually to help out at night.

It's unbelievable how much better night visibility is with the TL-7. The only draw back I have found with these and possibly any LED for that matter, is fog. It's hard enough to see in the stuff anyway but the LED's really make it harder to see thru it IMO. Not a big enough issue to make me wanna take my TL-7's out tho.

If you want to see and be seen better - go with LED - soooo much better than halogen of any style...
