I am shopping bikes looking at the Street Glide Special or the Ultra.

On the Ultra I like the rear bag guards, day maker lights, and the lower fairings that are not offered as "standard equipment" on the Special. However, I do not need nor do I want that tour pack. The problem with removing it is that the tour pack houses the turn signals.

The Ultra is only $750 more than the SGS. You can order an Ultra with the 6.5 radio for an additional $795. That puts the Ultra at $1545 over the SGS and for that money you get the things mentioned above. Problem is, I don't want that tour pack.

To take a SGS and add day makers, lowers, and rear bag guards will cost nearly $2,000. To me, this makes the Ultra a much better buy but to remove the tour pack will take even more $$ to deal with the lights and modify the radio antenna.

I have not heard of or seen a QD for the 2014 tour packs so that creates my dilemma.

Any suggestions out there???

 

I think your line of thinking is solid, and I tried to get my OL to do the same, but she really wanted the SGS, so that's what she got.

I wonder if the turn signals from a 11-13 Road Glide Ultra will fit on the rear fender with the existing tail light.... Just a thought, and could work.

I'm guessing that a QD and light solution will come out mid-year...

I'm thinking that HD will come out with a Quick Detatch kit that will include signal lights that will mout in the space between the fender and the bags.Not sure what they will come up with for the tag.
The new rear fender appears not to be able to accommodate a signal bar.There are no indentations or holes to bolt a signal bar too.
