The standard size of the windshields from 2008 to 2010 is 12". I changed to a dark tinted 8" one, $28.00 Ebay, which puts my eyes about 2" above the shield, and works perfectly and i'm also 5' 9". The 12" shield sucked because my eyes where at about 2" below the shield and at night or rain couldn't see.
Same here, I have now 12" shield on my '09 Police. When the seat suspension is inflated, I see over the shield no problem with some height to spare, but when the pressure is low, the seat goes down and I can see nothing)
I heard that by driving in a car you completely eliminate all buffeting. I traded in my Limited on a Honda Accord.. Its got A/C, a stereo system that makes infotainment look like child's play, and a radiator that doesn't leak!

Its a mistake to confuse WIND IN THE FACE feeling with buffeting. The former is what we are here for and what we love. The latter is just poor engineering.
Vent works; buffeting is greatly reduced. Going to try a 12" shield to knock the roar down a bit (that will leave the shield at about the level of my lips); bur regardless... I'm really happy with it.
I never really thought the buffeting was a big deal on my 2007 or 2010 Ultras until I got my 14. It is a great improvement. Like many others I to had trouble looking over the windshield on the other bikes, especially late in the day (I tend to slump more as I get tired). With the shorter windshield that isn't a problem. The one thing I wonder about is how it will handle in the rain. All in all I am happy.
Curious now that the 14's have been out a while what's the feedback on the new fairing
yes it is gone for the rider. but the passenger seems to get a little more air do to the angel of the shield. have not gone to a bigger shield but will when they become more available.
