I would go with the 555 in this case since you are getting a tune from FM. Son in laws 2012 FLHTK has TW555 and rides two up mostly and it does great. Have rode 222's in a couple of different bikes and they do good too. If you are wanting a stump puller with either one put 30 tooth front pulley and 139 tooth belt and hang on to either one. You can do this without changing the tune except the speedo calibration. Both cams have .555 lift and the 555 has 14 more degrees of duration and 12 degrees more overlap. The 222 will definitely out do the 555 below 2700 rpms then the 555 will get the upper hand slightly. The 555 will show better results with more compression if you ever want to go that way. Call FM they will steer you straight.

I had a set off 222's in my street glide and they stopped pulling around 4500 I thought it was the cams I pulled them out and swapped them for a set of 555's. That was a bad mistake I didn't like them. They didn't pull as hard as the 222's. A few months later I traded the SG for a RG and decided to go with the 222's again. I installed them and used a powervision tuner to tune the bike with a map from fuel moto. Man the tune was the issue with the 222's not pulling after 4500 rpm. Now the 222's rock! They pull to redline all day.

would you recomend changing to the woods directional lifters when i do the cam swap? I just turned 10k on the sg

I went with Gaterman lifters - better value I thought

The 222 is a real stump puller with lots of TQ starting at 2200, which is exactly what you want in a bagger and riding 2 up. It runs well out to 5500. As someone said earlier, its the tune that makes a difference. I previously had the SE255 and they ran out of steam at 4500, but that is not the case with the 222s. If your riding style is mostly in the lower rpm range and you are looking for more TQ down low then I would go with the 222s over the 555s. They made 6th gear useful in mine. I had to constantly gear down to pass in the 65-75 mph range, even with the SE255s. Not any more. Change out the lifters, HDs are not the greatest. I didn't when I changed my cams and I regret it as I now have one lifter that doesn't fully pump up until I get in the 2500 rpm range. Lifters will be a winter project as I have not decided which ones.

My lifters looked fine at 8k. I did replace them with Wood's and I would recommend it given some of the issues reported with stock. As others have said, there are other options like Gatermans. Folks speak highly of them. I just figured buy everything from the same source (FuelMoto) and be done with it. Proven combination with Wood's cams, lifters and FuelMoto pushrods.

This is the exact route I'm going over the winter.
