Do the refi, keep your old (2011) bike, save your money and when you've saved enough to do the deal in cash, do it. Just my personal feeling and what I'd do.

Pays to shop around. I offered the dealer that's 20 min from my house what I thought was a fair deal. No way, he said. Went to a dealer 90 min away and wound up with a 2k better deal than what I offered dealer #1. Exact same RGU at both dealers and dealer #1 still has his 5 months later

Ok, so I'm working on a loan consolidation with my bank. I'm moving a couple things around, and it put me at a position to have a decent amount to trade my 2011 Fat Boy Lo in.

It only has 3409 miles on it, and I was given a $12,250.00 trade amount. I owe $13,190.00 on it. No biggie. The difference isn't that much. I can deal with it.

So, I go to talk some numbers on the price of a 2014 Ultra (classic), that has security with it, and everything else standard. I was looking to walk out the door with it at $22,000-$23,000... nothing more.

Really, they got it "down to" $25,100 otd. I told them.. come down to $23,500 and you'll have the certified check within a couple hours.

No go. He said there isn't any way they can come down any more than that. I can't see myself paying that much over what they paid (invoice) for the bike.

I mean, how many people go for it, MSRP, and just ride away while they take that $7,000.00 above invoice, but won't take the time to make a deal with someone. /shrug.

Just frustrated.
The peak of the riding season is all but over, sure you'll hear rumbles here and there from desperate riders, but it's slowing down. Consider selling your Lo yourself. Yeah, you might be ride less, but you'll be out of that payment, use the cold months to do some planning, then prior to the spring get a way better deal. That's an option......but so is waiting to win the lottery.

I'm going to keep shopping around. I have 90 days on the consolidation loans, so there is time. I appreciate the replies. I'll talk to them again tomorrow, and see what if I can convince them to do it. If not, I'll just snag my Lo back from them and be done with it there.

Does any one remember a scant 11-12 years ago paying 1500 to get on the list to pay whatever the dealer wanted to charge you when a bike actually came in? LOL

BlueBook, MSRP, OTD, ...... All just guidelines. The only real question is - what is it worth to you? These bikes are not investments, just hobbies. No matter how good a deal we get - at the end of the day we all lose money on them. I will say when I bought mine, I looked at 3 dealers. I knew Cowboys in Beaumont TX was gonna give me the best deal, and they did, but all dealers wanted MSRP + dealer fees. The only thing that set them apart was about $1,500-$2k more for my trade and a little better interest rate. The rate still sucked - just better than the others.

The bike cost more than my first 3 cars combined and the interest rate was too high - but when I go out in the garage, I don't think about that!! When I'm rolling in the wind I dang sure don't think about it!!!!!! When I'm paying bills, it crosses my mind haha. But it was worth it to me.

Exactly C.H.L.! I think I paid close to sticker on mine. I think they knocked off like $500 or so, but I don't think about that crap now.

I just paid it off last month, and it's all mine now. When I'm riding it, and modding it, and washing it, and wrenching on it, I don't even think about all that financial crap. It would drive me crazy if I did. I entered into it knowing this isn't a cheap hobby, so wtf! I just enjoy my bike. After all we bought them cuz we wanna ride em and enjoy them right?
