14 Road King or Street Glide

14 Road King or Street Glide
Can we hear some opinions from those that have went from a Road King to a Street Glide? I'm just curious why you made the switch and if you were ultimately happy with the decision. I'm 50/50 between getting a 14 RK or SGS.
The fairing is nice on long rides for sure but did anyone miss the wind in your face open feeling of a fairing less bike? My longest rides on ave are only 200 mile days
Thanks for all the opinions

I have had a Streetglide and two Roadkings. I like the ride (and music) of a Streetglide but I like to ride without a windshield a lot...Not an option on a Streetglide. If you can swing it, I would get a Roadking and an aftermarket fairing. The stock stereos in the Streetglides stink anyway...

Yup, I did it in 2010. The story goes like this this: Bought a 2010 Road King FLHR after going through what you're going through right now. Told myself I didn't need a hot rod bagger with fairing, instruments and stereo. Matter of fact, it was my second King (had a 2006 previously). So I'm happy with my choice and life is good. However, every time I saw a SG I'd being thinking maybe I should of bought the SG. Well, as the story goes, took my Road King to the dealer for the 5,000 mile service and rode out with 2010 Street Glide. It just got to me and the wife liked the SG's from the beginning, so that made it easy.
I rode the SG for 15 months and put 17,000 miles on it and it was time to put $$ in tires and brakes. Also a new seat because the wife was starting to ride with me. Didn't want to put $$ into it because I wanted a Road King - again. The Glide was a nice motorcycle, but I discovered that I'm no fan of fairings. So I got a '12 Road King and haven't looked back. I like the fact that the windshield is removable. I like to ride short distances w/o the shield. I like the looks of the Road King in that it looks a lot a 1965 Electra Glide. Google images of a '65 EG and you'll see what I mean.
Okay, that's my story. Oh, by the way, not sorry I bought the Street Glide, just like Kings better. We'll call it a learning experience.
Go to my albums to see the SG, Road Kings and a short lived Electra Glide Classic (another learning experience).

I had a LowRider and in 07 got a RoadKing Custom now I have a 2014 Street Glide.
Before the Harley's I had Honda's, Yamaha's, Suzuski, and a lot of Dirt Bikes too.
All were great bikes for the time I had them, but the new Street Glide just seams to fit
well with me now. It Handles better then the LowRider & the RK Custom, got a nice raido too.
The SG is one of the most comfortable bikes I have owned, got good power, and it's looks cool.
Not bad for a 67 year OldPhat guy
