The bike is being shipped November 1st... maybe I am really off base here, but I doubt highly that is the day it will be making its way down the line. I find it hard to believe the bikes make it through all the stages of the assembly process and final inspection in one day.

Also, are they building the bikes with pre-painted parts or are they assembling the bike then bringing in to paint? I guess I need to go on the tour and find out.

In order to ride it home from the factory you still have to buy it from a dealership. Then they put you on a list. If you are lucky and are willing to wait.

If I remember right I would've still had to pay setup and shipping to the purchasing dealer.

Even Corvette has this program. For an "extra charge" they will deliver it to you at the museum across the street from the factory. It's a big ceremonial thing. FOr even more "extra charge" you can get a photo album taken by a prefessional photog of your car being built on the line and the delivery at the museum. Seems to me HD is missing out on a gold mine.

And for no extra fee at all - if your brand new corvette pukes it coolant all over your garage repeatedly GM will likely have some idea whats wrong with it and will actually fix it

Go to the factory watch ur car come off the assembly line then drive it around europe for a while before shipping it home...
GM does this with the Corvette too.

Kinda off subject but I was think about all these tours going on and all and wondered how the heck they got all the 2014s (and all other new models past and present) ready for first shipment without even one person seeing a thing during tours at the factory(s).

They got a HD line out at Area 51 or something? Incredible and pretty cool that they can pull that off. Just sayin.

What other motorcycle manufacturers let you do it? I remember when Triumph did decades ago; who now?

While reading this thread this exact thought was crossing my mind. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

Corvette does this, they charge extra for Corvette Museum delivery. You could even pay a huge upcharge to see the C6 ZR1 engine built that would go into your car, they let you stand next to the tech building the motor. I think it was like $5,000 to watch. Some people paid the price. Harley could make a ton of money offering a special factory delivery program with a tour of the plant, tour of the museum, etc., etc. Bet they could get $1,000 no problem.
