The key and fob both go on a locking carabiner that attaches to my belt.

Despite living in a city of 56,000 people, I leave the keys in all of my vehicles whether at home or work. If I'm at a store they go in my pocket. I never lock the switch down on the bike and the keys are in the TP.
Call me what you will but I've never had a vehicle stolen and enjoy not having to worry about what's locked and what's not. The house stays unlocked too - but with a German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees inside I'm not too worried.

I rode my SG about 15 miles from work the other day and realized I didn't have my fob when i tried to start my bike up. It was in my jacket pocket next to where the bike was parked when I left work.

I didn't know the code to bypass the alarm and it took me about an hour before someone could bring me my key. Can't stand that damn fob system.

I got stranded for an hour when the battery went dead on me. Thinking no problem, since i Had instructions on how to bypass in my wallet. No way could i get it going. Turned out that the instructions that came with the security system where wrong. Dealer is notifying HD

You can change the code to something easy to remember. I changed mine to the last 5 digits of my drivers license number. The default code from the factory is the last 5 digits of your VIN.
