No Cat Head Pipes
#21
I went the stock de cat head pipe myself. picked one up on Ebay.Pay attention to shipping that 135 can turn into 175 pretty quick if they don't include shipping.I love that the Fuel Moto pipe is stainless and can be ordered with ceramic coating.I don't love the price.I just didn't want to spend a couple thousand on Stage 1 this time around.I went with a Thunder Header on my Dyna and in the end it worked great made really good HP and torque numbers but that was two tuners ,a custom built map and a bunch of dyno time later.I almost could have done a big bore kit for what I had into my "stage one"

I had to replace my two year old V&H Power Duals. Long story, but my Insurance covered it.
They did move the sensor bungs so they are equal distance from the end. Wiring and mounts were also different. Same part # as the older ones. If you were going to get one, try to specify the newer style. I had to retune a bit.

+1 on that, d-streetglidr.
I got my de-catted header from Ebay, too (bobvic2). I liked the way he did the job (cut-out & re-weld). My SG now performs better, runs cooler and sounds great, all for only $135!
Unless you're planning major performance upgrades (Stage 2, 3 or 4), then a stock, de-catted header is all that a typical rider really needs.
To each his own...
By the way, I LOVE the color on that SG. VERY nice!

Thanks guys, have been keeping an eye on here and ebay for a good stock catless header or a good deal on the vance and hines. Just bought the last ones (bobvic2) mentioned above had on sale on ebay. Thanks for the name drop FenderGuy. Just got a Power Commander V last week on ebay for a deal without the usb or cd so that has me a little worried about getting the map i need on it. That and the CFR pipes I have always getting negative feedback about tuning but damn I love the sound of them, lol.

Good call Tucci! I started researching after posting and found the free download on DynoJet website. I have hundred's of USB to mini usb's around so I'm good to go as soon as I find a map that's close to what I have. "Ride and test maps", lol, like I needed another excuse to hop on

I see 17 maps for all 2013 Harley touring bikes, not very many combinations. And only 1 manufacturer of True Duals - Rush. All the other maps are just slip-ons and AC (stock headers).

Am I missing something?
