That is some of the fun playing with the dynojet you can see your current fuel use and the average over the trip displayed. Once you get use to playing with the answer is right in front of you just how that right hand effects it. Not just top speeds but how you roll on and off.

I think these 50+ mpg guys don't know how to do the math! No f'ing way is anyone getting 50 mpg on a Harley... unless you're going downhill with the wind. Taking it easy I can get 40 mpg. I typically get 38. I commute every day a minimum of 80 miles each day and it could be as high as 200 miles for the day. In addition, my wife and I go for at least 1 long ride on the weekend. I confirm the mpg on every tank fill up. It's never more than 40.

If they are doing 50MPG then they are running leaner than factory, babying the hell out of it and always going downhill with a tail wind.
most tuned bikes seem to run in the 35-40 range. under 35 you are probably too rich and not getting any benefit, over 40 running mostly at 14.6 AFR
