I think Street Glides will ride harder because they use the Profile Low shocks, which means less travel before you bottom out, and therefore a harder ride to prevent bottoming.
You can adjust all you want and they're gonna feel hard.I've got the 2013 SG HDI model and they already came with the new back suspensions. No more air ride. It's a much harder ride compared to my Fatboy Lo,which ever way you dial it.
O/p doesn't have air shocks. He has the SGS which comes with the upgraded manual adjustable shocks. There is a chart in the owners manual that explains how to adjust based on rider weight and load.
From: South Carolina-First to secede and hopefully the next.
IMHO the shocks are a small part of the problem. That really cool low profile front tire is hard as a rock. The rear ain't much better. I'm sure they will get good mileage, but I'll be looking for something a little softer when the need arises.
My shocks had 8psi when I bought it so I upped it to 20psi and it rides better. I agree with the previous post in that the low profile front is a little rough from a comfort standpoint.
Buy a new 2014 Ultra and you will never notice the hard ride because the bike will always be in the shop getting the cooling system fixed. I couldn't resist, sorry.
What do you weigh and what do you have the dial on the left shock set to?
There is a chart in the manual. Adjust it according to the weight on the bike as a good starting point.
What I don't understand is why the sales peeps don't take the time to explain how the shocks wor .................. silly me ........... Most of them don't know either ...................
I was going to lower the front end at the 1000 mile service, because of short inseam,
with the crome fork lowers I have ordered. Now that I have a few hunderd miles on the
"Bike" I am now comfortable with the ride & handling. The owners manual gives a good
run down on how to adjust the rear shocks, both air shocks & manual adjustable shocks
On the SG & SGS bikes.
