Lot more bull **** to deal with the newer models.
Yank the headpipe, buy a tuner get a tune, yada yada yada.

If I had it do over again, I think I would just buy a 2005 Screamin' Eagle Ultra like this"

just buy a lightly used electra glide and make it your own

Default Maybe a Road King?

Street Glides are awesome but you might find a Road King more to your liking....

The engines were bulletproof and these bikes are typically under ridden and are also reasonably priced now. One of my personal favorites is the 2005 seeg in cherry. It might take a little looking to find the color you want, but these will make a great bike...
I disagree 100% with this...The changes in 2009 made a huge difference. I think after 2002, all the motors are pretty much the same crap too...None of the inherent issues are really solved...

there are differences from year to year, usually minor changes. 2009 marked a major change in the frame. possibly reducing the value of the earlier bikes.

the "idea" of a H-D is to start with a basic good bike and make it your own...strip it down or add stuff to it, whatever suits your needs.

alot of us have full touring bikes..but strip down for around town use.

I'm on an Ultra now, but my transitional HD was a Street Glide. It was the perfect bike for cruising and still had some tunes and reasonable comfort for longer trips. Whatever you get will ultimately be modified in one way or another. HD counts on that.

Welcome to your new obsession.
