Give us a helping hand, so we can better answer your question! What wheel do you currently have and what sort of wheel would you like? Your stock wheels have 3/4" tapered roller bearings, which limit what you can easily do, as they were superseded around 2000, so later wheels you may see won't bolt in.

I have a 99 and went thru this, is a major pain, you will have to change everyting up front, lower forks, brakes, plus the speedo runs on the front wheel, 2000 is when they changed all of that. There might be an after market company that makes wheels for older bikes but I have not found one yet.

fit some 13" disc rotors & 6 piston calipers and nobody will see the wheel

a lot easier and you will have decent brakes

That looks wonderful! Well done. What's wrong with the wheels?! Don't spoil it.......

That's what I have done to my old bike (1990), but it is darned expensive! I painted the whole wheel plain gloss black.
