Default Test rode 2014 street glide. Now have a question or two.

My current bike is a 2012 Super Glide Custom (dyna). Totally stock 96 engine with the exception of the K&N filter and Python slip on muffs.

I went out looking for a bike so the wife can ride with me. I saw and test rode the 2014 Street Glide 103. While on the Street Glide, I would not help from thinking that my Super Glide had more 'punch/better pickup" then the Street Glide 103. I test rode the bike alone, so did not have the additional weight of a passenger.

Was it my imagination? (No disrespect intended.. infact, we signed the paper work yesterday on the 2014 SG Fire Fighter Edition vivid black and will take her home by the end of the week.)

Also.. for that bike, we want a quick release sissy/back rest. because I don't like the sissy bar look when I ride alone.
However I heard that when the harley brand quick release sissy bar is removed, the remaining hardware sticks up and is ugly. I am looking for opinions on this... so should I go with Harley or Kuryakyn brand quick release sissy bar for a lower profile mounting (docking) hardware?

Then you should be looking at a Ultra.

Figure the touring bike is carrying some 200# more

The Dyna is a sportier bike and the weight is less. The SG does have great power but also bone stock where you have a stage 1 on your Dyna. I went out for a demo ride yesterday and was not overly impressed with the SG either, it felt like it was top heavy and wanted to tip over.

Unless you are sold on getting a Touring model, check out a Heritage Softail. Will have the sissy bar already, yet be a sportier, better performing bike. With the 103 also.

No... wife and I have our hearts set on a cruiser. The Street Glide is in our budget.

The weight difference makes the bagger slower than your dyna. My 4300cc, 50hp, 220lb supermoto is actually faster as my 100hp Electraglide.
Don't know anything about the '14 docking hardware except it is different? My '09 came with four point docking hardware and a rack but I never mounted either? I do bolt on a Chinese trunk for trips and have a Corbin seat the backrest just slides into.

Does your docking hardware stick up really bad when the sissy bar is not mounted?

Plus you can buy magnetic caps for those black docking points to make it look nicer and hide some of it.
