Default Inner Fairing is OFF!!

Well, after a lot of debating, I finally decided to suck it up and get that inner fairing off today. I left work early and started digging in. I didn't have any problems at all. I just took my time and went step by step with the manual. Probably took me longer than most, but I was doing a lot of doublechecking, making marks and taking notes etc. It was an awesomefeeling once it finally came out and I got to drop it off at the shop this afternoon.

Now, for the hard part......waiting for it to come back from the painter. (1.5 weeks)

Thanks to all who gave their insight and experience.

What color are you painting it black or blue? More importantly if blue where did you find the paint to match?

My vote is paint it to match the bike.

Most definitely painting it to match!

Started pricing out a quart of paint and activatorfrom the dealer last fall. Told him I would think about it. He leaned over and quietlytold me about a place down the road that has all of the paintcodes for Harley colors. They only charge $175 for prep and paint. They have a bunch of tins in the showroom that are awesome!!!

Check out the site: http://www.cpvehicles.com/

Here is the link to their showroom: http://www.cpvehicles.com/showroom.php

They are about 20 minutes south of Milwaukee.

Glad to see another diy'er and a shopper for services. One of the best mods on an EG is a color matched fairing and youprobably feel pretty goodnot paying HD's $520 for the painted parts.

Are you doing the mirrors as well as the inner fairing and cap?

I picked up some painted parts from my painter this week and he asked when he was going to shoot the inner fairing. I figured I could wait a few months, but you got me thinking "why wait, just do it."

Looking forward to your pics.

Yeah they are doing the mirrors and lower cap as well.

I also have new hand controls, foot controls, chrome lowers, seat, backrest and passing lamps to put on before I'm done in a few weeks.

I can't wait to see all of this put back together!

Is there that big of a selection of bars for an FLHX? I thought bars were fairly standard for the "Glides" due to the fairing etc.

I was looking at doing the cables since everything is off right now.
