Default Radio advice for 1986 Electra Glide

What and where can I fing a good replacement radio for an 86 Electra Glide I am restoring? The stock is dead. I'd like to keep the handlebar controls if possible.

I got mine at the Cycle Accessory store on line, came complete or you can just buy the head set, I bought a unit that my mp3 player can be put in the head unit behind the face plate, is all plug and play and can still use handle controls

I'd give Biketronics a call.

I think you need a nice Panasonic am/fm 8 track player

When my 1986 FL's radio died I replaced it with a Kenwood radio. I wasn't able to use the handlebar controls but it was better than the stock radio.

Harley use to have a cover to help keep rain out of the radio. A marine supple store might still have them.

You might try to get a marine water proof radio. As water proof as they can be.

If you have the original radio, and want to keep it, contact Radio Sound. They are the Original Equipment Manufacturer. The made the radios for Harley from '86 to '05. You can find their web site Here. The radios listed for a "Flat Fee" repair are from 1988-2005. The radio used in the '86/'87 model years were different, and low in number. The web page has a Toll Free Number to call. Give them a call to find if they can repair it and the approximant amount. They are great guys and have helped me on my older radios when they needed repair.

Your bike is an Evo, so call into the Evo section, where they may be able to help.
