I'd definitely shop nearby dealers. I am lucky that I have more than a few. Between them just about every color and model is available. I do notice some like to mark things up. Some are adding $500+ set up fees and adding things like aftermarket exhaust installed at a mark up. Cleveland only charged me MSRP and freight which I feel is fair enough. Dealers are well aware of what others charge, so use that as a bargaining tool. Look around...some are feeding on those that "have to have it now". If you can't find what you want locally, put down a deposit to make sure you get exactly what you want. There is no reason to settle on a different color or options just to have a new scoot in the garage before the snow flies. Nothing worse than spending good money to end up with buyer's remorse.

They are telling me late October early November. I could have purchased one in another color but it wasn't what I wanted. In the mean time I'm still cruising on the 2010 FLHTK.
You will love the bike and color...The factory custom paint Daytona blue will only be produced for a few months, according to my research. I have that bike and everyone loves it. The. 2014 limited is the new bike I have always hoped for. Runs great day one without heat issues. My dealer is sold out of his current limited model allocation. Their issue is starting to be used bikes. They are stacking up. Would you pay 20 grand for a used bike when you could get the new upgrade for a little more? That is what I asked myself...In my humble opion.

Best of luck to you

Tried out 3 demo seats last week and seen a few 14's in the showroom. Also seen a new 13 CVO Ultra that some guy backed out of, after putting a deposit down. Wonder if he got his deposit back. Sales guy said, while i was looking it over, that it retails for 42 grand, but they are motivated to sell. Wasn't told how motivated though, and got the hell outta there, before i do something stupid.

Unlikely that would fly today to many options.
The 90's were a strange time for HD not going to return.
If they did it by force to many would jump ship to Victory or dare I say it honda .
New riders are not as hard core loyal as the last generation.

Lots of talk about dealers selling all the 2014 they have received. Some say you can buy anything you want, straight off the floor, no waiting. One guy said that some dealers are getting truck loads of new bikes every week or so, etc.
So, how many new bikes does the average Harley dealer move in a years time.

I don't see the big deal about leaving a deposit when buying a big ticket item my dealer whom I purchased 2 previous bikes from asked me for $100 to lock up the next SGS coming in and I would have given 1K if he asked. Like others have said there are dealers asking over MSRP like Gengras Harley-Davidson in CT advertising 1K over list for a SGS thats why they have specials in stock. no way i'm paying over list.

I can't understand all this hype over having to put down a deposit. For as long as I can remember, that's how it has been around here. You want something for sure and you want the dealer to make the effort to bring it to you as soon as possible, you pay a deposit. That tells the dealer that you're a genuine case and it gives you the peace of mind that the item is going to come to you for sure..what's amiss?
