My experience with Cobra customer service
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but I thought I'd share.
In May, I bought an '07 EGS with just over 41,000 miles. This past Sunday, I hit 50k. It has a Cobra PowerPro 2-1 exhaust that was on it when I bought it. On my way home from a 200 mile trip, I noticed my exhaust had started making a rather annoying sound. A vibration that changed frequency with throttle. I narrowed it down to the muffler.
Yesterday, I took the baffle out and discovered it had an 8" split in the welded seam, and at end of the split, there is a crack formed going around. I called Cobra to find out what a new baffle is gonna cost me.
I called customer service and explained that this exhaust was on the bike when I bought it, and the exhaust had a little over 30k miles. He asked me to send pix, which I did. He explained he had never seen one like that. He then proceeded to ask if I had a receipt for it. As luck would have it, when I bought the bike I got every receipt for every part and work ever done to it, as well as a very detailed maintenance log. I took a pic of the receipt and emailed it to him. He then told me he would send me a new baffle, on FedEx, and they would cover shipping.
I was amazed, given that warranties typically only apply to original purchaser, and i called to buy a baffle. I explained to him that the allen head screws rounded out because they were seized, and I scratched the billet end cap getting the screws out. He is also sending a new cap and screws.
Anyway, all to often we only hear of all the bad experiences with customer service. Thought I'd share a positive one with y'all.
