I agree, why buy new when you can mod the old. I dont know if it just as good or not but as long as it is good to you.
I did this to my 2004 till I eventually got my full exhaust.

1. I plan to keep this bike for at least several years ... unless something earth shattering is released.

2. I would like a set of Rineharts full system, but they are very expensive and i just cant swing it for some time.

This mod would be great for me in the meantime, everyone knows you couldnt give the stock pipes away ... worse case if i want to yank my rineharts off, i can pick up a set of stocks on ebay for $30

Doing your own mods is what makes a bike truly "custom".

If it works, what's the problem??

while we all debate whether its worth it or not, can someone post a how-to for the 14's, so i can go do it and decide for myself if it was worth it? LOL

I seriously doubt someone has a step by step for a 2014 baffle removal yet. Heres what you do.
1. Measure the inside diameter of your muffler tip. Go to home depot and get a bi metal hole saw. Get the one that most closely matches the exhaust tip size (inside diameter)

2. Have at it! It will make sense as your going along. You will reach a point where you can remove the baffle material by hand after you hole saw your way through

3. The OP did note that the left and right mufflers are different, this is an effort by HD to create equal exhaust flow in unequal length exhaust pipes

LOL, exactly who wants to be one of the sheep? I rode my special home, took of the head pipe put on a catless and set of 4" flat black rhineharts I had. After spending $25k on a god damn bike I couldn't afford a $600 set of pipes haha. Good thing I had a set. Mod away man.

I'm taking all the chrome off and denim powder coating most of it this winter. Not going to the HD catalog and buying all new black parts. If you can afford to do that dude, more power to ya.

The next owner can buy his/her own exhaust.

Thanks for the support guys. It's just like anyone buying a new bike and putting different bars on it or swapping our derby and timing covers, it is still changing the factory bike. I just don't feel like dropping that much coin on a new exhaust when I like the way this one looks. A guy on the island had his done and I thought it sounded awesome so I decided to follow suit. I plan on doing more as time comes because it is my bike and Im pretty sure this is America, land of the free.
