Default how much are people being offered in trade for 2013 ultra limiteds?

Stopped by dealer, where I've bought two new Harleys from, and was checking out the 14 ultra limiteds. Thought I'd see where I'd be to trade towards a 14. Bought my 13 Ultra Limited there about 5 months ago. Bike has about 11, 000 miles on it and is like new. They offered 17, 000 for it. Really? They expect people to take a 10, 000 dollar hit?

Dealer where I have also purchased two bikes in the last year offered me 19,600.
for my 13 limited. Probably reasonable but I'm not taking that big of hit.

Thats at least in the ball park. But to offer me 17 after buying two bikes there, some accessories, and clothes there...they must not want me as a customer anymore because that was insulting.

MSRP on an ultra limited is $24K, so your math is funky. Only $7K hit and, like cars, bikes lose a lot when you drive it off the lot. And I would speculate that 80+% of bike owners dont put 5K/year on their bikes, let alone 11K in 5 months, so you need to wake up a bit. Plus, when you trade you are paying for the convenience and security of not selling it privately. To an entity that will want to sell it to someone else for a profit.

I just paid $2 grand less than MSRP for a brand new '13 Limited, so how much are they going to get for a used bike with higher than normal mileage for a '13 when they go to sell it? I wouldn't pay more than $19 or 20k given what I can buy a new '13 for right now, they have to make some money after whatever costs they have for prepping the bike for sale. $17-18k seems like a reasonable trade in price. Once the new '13's are gone from the dealer floors you may get a better number.

The initial depreciation hit is the reason I don't buy new bikes.
