I own a new to me 2011 Road King. I purchased it with 93 miles on it. The bike was 100% stock which was great. I've noticed on the lower right, right behind the headlight there are two wires. One has a red rubber cap on it and the other is a gray female plug. Personally I think they are ugly as when the bike is on the side stand you can see them sticking out. They are attched to a grouping of wires so the are secure but my question is what are the plugs for? I am assuming one is a hot (the red capped one) and the other a ground?
Those wires should be an extra ignition "hot" and "ground" as long as they are the same ones on my SG.
Mine are behind a fairing, so they don't stick out.
Really useful for tying in small gadgets and other stuff.
I guess its nice for those that want to use it the MOCO left them out there for easy access. Ive owned plenty of tour bikes a probably never noticed those wires due to the fairing? Now that I'm on a King I see them just sitting there..
If they're not appealing...just tuck them away w/tie-wraps.
I guess I could but I'd have to cut the tape that is holding them on to the bundle of wires. I could probably carefully cut the tape and tuck them back twards the headlight?
I imagine all touring models both US and EU get the same wiring harness to keep costs down. Can make for some nice wiring inventions.
P.S. get a wiring diagram book works well in trying to finger stuff out
