Default Headsets...

I'm not fond of wearing a helmet for the most part, but in the rain and night time highway runs, I'll stop and put it on...but I would like to be able to take advantage of the intercom and CB when riding long distances with my wife. I have the headset that came with the bike, not impressed, and have a cheap one I found on eBay just to try this out.

Since we're wanting to use them, which ones would you suggest that we can each use with and without half helmets? I remember essing some with a quick disconnect in line making it easier for her to plug in the line to the bike then get on and plug into the line.

Open to suggestions...

I know this has been talked about before, and yes, I tried the search feature.

I was under the impression the ones made for half helmets (behind the head) could also be used without a helmet. Is that incorrect?

Not to Hijack, but I was wandering if the was one that could be used with a half helmet and a full or 3/4 as we have all and I'd only like to get one head set if I could.

You can use the with a half helmet, not a full face or 3/4. I like IMC moto headsets. Great value for the price. I can't hear all the bass and there is wind nooise, etc. Not paying 150+ for headsets that dont really sound any better at 70 mph than the ones that cost me 65.

I have had IMC, HD and J&M and i can say that by far the J&M is the best out there....The IMC is OK and they make the helmetless headset and it's adequate...it sounds good because it's close to the ears but as far as sound quality the J&M is the best...Call the boys at Sierra Ellectronics and they will hook you up.

The problem with going bluetooth is that there is no interface (at least not that I have been able to find) that will allow you to interface the HD radio functions like the CB and intercom!

I went with this. It's a dual 7 pin adapter that lets me use earbuds all the time and can plug in a generic call center type boom mic to use with the CB when I'm doing escorts. Works great with a half helmet, the straps hold everything in place. Have not tried the mic with no helmet though.
