Default 2003 electra glide wont start

i put my bike outside of the garage during the day while i was painting. 6 hrs later it wont turn over. a "key" signal is showing on the gauges. never saw that before. the fuel pump is working. the volts are at 12. the directional lights are coming on back and forth. if i have a security system on it,i'm not aware of it. before this it was fine. last time i rode was 10 days ago. gotta be something stupid i figure. any help would be much appreciated. thank you

If the directional lights are coming on try changing your battery in your fob.. Or hold the fob in your left hand close to the front if the saddle bag..

The last time that happened to me I had hit the Run/Off switch by mistake and turned it off. I never use it so it took me a couple of minutes to figure out what happened.

Indication is you have a security system that is activated. The fact the lights are blinking and the 'key" indicator lights points to that. Probably no alarm installed or it would go off as well. I'm pretty sure the 2003 year you had to press the button on the FOB to activate the Security mode. To deactivate you have to press the button the FOB once again.

12 Volts is low voltage on your battery. That may be contributing to your problem as well. 13.8 Volts would be full charge and anything under 12.3 V would be considered low. Since you don't think you have a Security System and you don't appear to be aware of a FOB I would charge the battery over night and then try to start the bike. Not a good idea try to jump start it.

thank you for your replies. turns out it has a security system without a siren. found out that i probably set it off by accident when the keys were in my pocket along with other stuff and that it got pressed and activated it. two clicks with the keyfob the same way you double click a mouse solved the problem. the best part is that i can lock the bike and disarm the starter. thanks again gentlemen

You should have a dealer program your manual override and learn how to do it. I practice it every few months. Do you have the owners manual? It has 2 cards in it with written directions on how to override.
1. Kill switch OFF.
2. Ignition switch ACCESSORY (Try not to move bike when touching switch or alarm goes off. Move gently)
3. Hold both directionals in. Security indicator lamp will flash rapidly. (The one on the speedometer).
4. Enter numbers of personal code by pressing left directional the number of times in each digit followed by pressing right directional. For example:
If code was 12345 you would press left directional 1 time, then right directional. Then LD 2 then RD1, LD3 RD1, LD4 RD1, LD5 RD1..Sounds complicated but when you do it it is actually easy.
5. Security lamp will stop blinking, you are good to go. I recommend doing this at home on a nice day, not on the road in a thunderstorm, while your buddies are calling you an idiot.
If you don't know your code I think any dealer can program it for you. I also carry extra fob batteries, with me. It is a 2032 battery available all over, actually cheaper at HD dealer than most stores.

Push the button on the key fob twice quickly.

Who sold you the bike without telling you it had security? That's crazy. Didn't you wonder what the fob was for?
