Default 17 or 18 inch rear wheel?

Was at 110th talking to PM about putting a 21 incher on the street glide. They said a 17 inch wheel with 200 tire rode/ handled better than 18 inch and 180 tire? Obviously you can see more wheel on 18. Any experience / thoughts on this?

I don't necessarily think it will rider better but I do thing that if you want a wider tire the 17" is the way to go. Also if you are looking to keep the rear of teh bike at the same height as stock the 17x6.25 with a Metzeler 200/50/17 will do that. If you don't care about the extra 20mm that 18" will be great as well. The 18" with a 180/55/18 tire will raise the rear of teh bike about 1/2". To some people this is a big deal, to me personally I'd rather have the 18 with a little bit of extra ground clearance, however I am in the minority in this category.
