That is correct... But as long as their hooked up to a switch which they would still be you can turn them off when you turn your highbeams on...

That is for inspection purposes...

I don't know a Single LEO (myself included [expecially being i have been wanting to do this myself]) that would write a ticket for it...

didn't know it was illeagal to run spots with high beams in virginia....good to know as i drive in it from maryland every day on the way to work. just put the pigtail in.....what a pita. i think they must have ladies or kids with little hands do the wiring. took a few minutes to find the right harness but once found and pulled out to work on, all went fine. hope it helps with the vision on the back roads. if not, stock go back in and these go back to the dealer or e-bay if they won't take them back.

I think its illegal to run spots with the highbeam everywhere, if it wasn't cars and trucks with drivinglights from the factory would not be wired to shut them off with the highbeams. How many times are you going to get out of the dealer for $30. Its not like anyone here didn't know, sooner or later if you have a Harley your gonna pay.

I was specifically asked about my spots turning off when the hi beam goes on when I got the Suzuki inspected. On that bike the spots are on a separate switch. Luckily I was the one flipping switches and hit both to make it look like the spots went off when the hi beams came on.

I think it is illegal in most states , that's why cars are the same way I think but most people dim there lights to oncoming cars anyway so except for a state inspection no one would know

I would have to remove it for every inspection as it is one of the items they check. Or I could just do what a friend of mine does or doesn't do. He doesn't get any of his bikes inspected.

Thank You for all the replies.

Another question than...

Does taking the outer fairing off require 2 people? Don't want it to fall!

And will I need a bigger fuse to handle extra light/power?

You won't need bigger fusing as long as you still have the stock bulbs/lamps.

Take the faring screws out first (think it's 4), then the windshield screws middle one last. You'll probably have to pull hard to get it off. Unhook the headlight wiring and you can set the faring down.

When I did mine I had to reach in deep and under a bracket to find the harness.

Good Luck and there's pix here on the site you can search for that helps.
