Default Road the RKC to work today without the windshield...

and what a difference and not in a good way

Maybe I'm just getting old but man that was not as fun as I thought it would be. Under 65 I was ok but getting on the highway and above 70 (75 speed limit for half the ride) was work and it was a brief 17 mile trip!

I'll be putting my windshield back on for the time being, maybe I'm just spoiled

Nope...You're just getting old like the rest of us...Had my shield off a few times in the past. The only time it comes off now is when I wash the bike.

once you break 85 - 90 it seems that the wind stops trying to push you off the back of the bike..

Ride mine without the shield around town and on short trips but anything of any length on the freeway I use the shield. Like the OP says, once you get up to freeway speeds its just not comfortable when you're used to a windshield.

I had the same experience recently. It so comfortable when you don't have the wind pushing you back but its nice to remove for short trips under 50 mph or so.

I hope its not age but who cares.

I'm pretty much the same way. I love riding without when I stay 60mph or below... or 70mph for very short burst... but high speeds for any length of time - it is just not comfortable. I also have helmet issues. I don't mind the wind as much as the helmet wanting to fly off......

First bike with windshield was a new '94 RK. Thought I'd just leave it off? Wrong! I never took it off! Went for a little ride up the hill on my supermoto today. Bike is a kick but wind beat me up and my butt hurts. I may be selling it soon? Man I'm old!!!

Same here...took mine off and went around the country block I live on and put it back on....might be ok if I wasn't wearing my half helmet and had some ear plugs in.

I took mine out Sunday w/o the shield and wore my Arai FF. I felt like a bad-@$$. LOL. Then I realized how tense I was. The shield is back on for highway speeds but will come off more often in-town.
