Tried opening the fuel cap and no dice. I did not know if touring bikes have some after shutdown process that makes a noise. It is wierd just some kind of a noise like when you flip the on switch. Like the fuel pump but not as loud.
Is this new or has it always done it? What voltage do you see while it is running. About all I can think of is the starter continues to run while the machine has electrical power turned on. One thing to try would be to start the engine, then pull the trigger wire off the starter, the single small wire with the push on clip. Then shut it off the engine and see if you still get the sound. Especially if that isn't it, push the wire back on to the tab after the test.
How long does it last? The only other thing I can think of is air passing the throttle plate until pressure is equalized if there is a last intake stroke during shutdown.
