The '14 has nicer wheels, the bags are re-shaped, taller handlebars & a different seat, but since I would be changing the front wheel, seat & bars anyway (at least on my last several), I would try for a nice deal on the '13.

The better cams on the '14 would be interesting, but then again I'm sure my gear drive, S&S's are still up to the task.

What are your plans 3, 4 or more years down the road? The '13 sitting on the floor is 1 model year old before it leaves the dealership. You get X amount of discount because of that. Unfortunately, when you trade or sell outright later, you get at least 2 X money less than if you were doing the same transaction with a used '14. To put numbers on it for clarity, say you get $800 off the price by buying a '13. When you go to trade later, that older model year will be worth at least $1600 less than if you were trading a '14. If you plan on riding the King "for ever" or if money is tight buy the less expensive one. If you can comfortably afford it, get the latest and greatest.

Went in today and made the deal ... Black/Blue 2tone RK, 2014

Interesting, they are giving me 100% what i paid for my Heritage as a trade in.

$17,999 is that a good number on that bike before taxes and fee's and such? Seemed like i was getting a great deal, especially making 100% on my trade in.

Thanks for the help everyone, very happy with my decision and i take delivery this Wed

i REALLY liked the Silver, so did my wife. But it almost has too much silver ... if the bags were black it would break it up some and look a lot better. My wife agreed, so black/blue it was!

Well im all excited, but i suppose the more i think about it the more i think im being baited.

They're going to give me 100% of what i paid for, from them 2yrs ago??

They're going to discount the brand new model, just a few days after launch?

Even if the guy wiggles me down a bit on my trade, im OK with that ... but if the deal is WAY off from what we discussed today, im not signing.

Tomorrow i detail my bike, Wed i bring it to him. Im expecting him to give me a lot of "ahh but look at this...." a few times, thats fine

The only thing that makes me somewhat confident is that he told me exactly how much cash to bring. Why would he risk me walking in with a bank check ready to sign, only to find out he changed numbers and we cant write it?

crap!

I have a new-found love for the RK. My first Touring rig was a 2006 RK Custom. Had to be bought back from the dealer because of major issues. Since then I have only owned fairing bikes. Well now I am on a RK again and I really like being able to see the whole road. Just need to get the buffeting under control. My goal is to ride this one for a few years and then pick up a used 2011-2013 for a good price and convert it to CVO style. Full CVO audio smooth front fender and CVO rear fascia.

Your wife will like the new bags on the '14, mine still can't figure out how to open the '13 bags!
That is a sharp RK, I saw one last weekend.
