Switching wheels on my Limited to Streetglide Wheels...Bearing question
I just scored brand new Wheels and Tires from a 2013 Streetglide that I'm gonna be putting on my 2012 Limited.
Both front and rear wheels from the SG currently have non-ABS bearings installed in them on both sides. (9276A)
My Limited has ABS.
Looking at my parts catalog, it looks like just one side of the wheel uses the ABS bearings, and the other side uses the non-ABS bearings.
I'm gonna be replacing the wheels on the bike myself, but I don't have the bearing tools, so I'm gonna bring the wheels to my dealer and have them switch the bearings to ABS bearings.
If my thinking is correct, all I need to buy is (2) ABS bearings (9252) correct? I'll be leaving my current ABS bearings with my Limited wheels.
Sound right, or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks

There might be a different inner spacer length you will need when switching from nonABS to ABS. Remember that ABS bearing is about 3 mm wider than nonABS bearings.
It's possible that the HD dealer shops installation protocol will require that the nonABS bearings be pulled from both wheels and replaced with new. Why? Because the service manual procedure has you installing the ABS side first, then insert the inner spacer, then install the nonABS side until it just touches the inner spacer.
I doubt they will reinstall the "pulled" nonABS bearings. Liability issues. So it's a safe bet that you will need to buy the two ABS bearings plus two new nonABS bearings....and maybe an inner spacer for each wheel.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see what they say.
Thanks!!

I just asked the same thing a few days before. I too am swapping wheels on my 12UC. You might find that thread interesting.

Hippie, they'll be for sale with the tires and ABS bearings and front rotors.
Haven't taken them off the bike yet, should be great condition, but I haven't had the chance to really inspect them.
Bike is a 2012 Limited with about 11500 miles.
After I get them off and cleaned up, I'll list them for sale.
If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll let you know details after I get them off.
Thanks
