Why not start it in first with the clutch out? The starter can easily move the bike as well as crank the engine. As soon as it fires your moving. Makes for a quick get away.

Personally, I click to neutral when the bike is coming to a stop, but still moving. That way I can always hit it first time. Then I shut it down in neutral, next time I start it I don't even have to be sitting on the bike. Just flip the switch, hit the starter and continue putting on the helmet etc. Its a routine.

Same for me, I always start in neutral with the clutch pulled in and idle it in neutral for a bit before I turn it off, next time I am ready to ride I can start the bike while standing and dont have to worry about anything crazy happening. 9 DAYS OF SUCKING SAND LEFT , WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!

in N and the clutch in seems like a tad overkill to me but who cares ..I do either in N or in 1st with clutch in if parked where I need it to stay in gear.

I've never had a problem "finding neutral". (I'm on my second HD) Seems to me something is wrong if you have this problem?????

For some reason my bike only starts in neutral. Is there something wrong?

As far as finding neutral mine's very touchy and I usually go past it one way or the other a few times. I sometimes get frustrated and reach down and find it with my hand. Mine is a 2012.

I called the dealer. He said it sounds like a bad switch he'll be replacing next Thursday.

With the old 5 speed no prob. With the 6 I had a hard time at first. Now its easy while on the move. . Sometimes to easy, Got on it one time stating in a turn and hit N. Almost falled over. Signs of an experienced rider gone bad.

I figure that's a joke. If you're serious I appreciate it though.
