I didn't see that coming, good for you. I just can't help wander how that could happen.

Default 17"

The best rubber in the world can only be found on a 17" rim. If disputed than go to the track and see what is available. 17" is the most developed tire there is. Do what you like however.

Howard, you are absolutely right if you are talking about a Sport bike, Superbike or Moto GP bike that has a 64 degree lean angle. But not my 900 lb Street glide with a 29-32 degree lean angle. Those tires are radials ours are bias ply. Apples and grapes.

There are many, many different tires available for 17". The many different compounds and tire designs will greatly help any bike, either sports or bagger. I do not sell tires and have no dog in this fight so I do not care what anyone will do. I just know what will work on my bikes because I have and I am doing it. I do not use a "wooden" OEM tire and the last time I do on my Dyna, I broke many bones because I did use that Dunlap POS. Not everyone makes square corners and rides only in the sun. Do what you want on this one & stay safe riding.

So will a 130 / 70 / 18 front tire fit where a 130 / 80 / 17 was originally, is the outside diameters close to the same and have no clearance issues. Like the looks of the street glide rims found a great deal on a set with new tires on them. Help!!!

It was a take off? Thats a no brainer, it didn't cost them a dime since it was left there when someone got new wheels.

replacing your 17'' wheel with an 18'' wheel, then you can do that with no worries. the stock tires from 16'', to 17'', 18'' and even 19'' all have virtually identical outside raidii. in fact, the 17'' is a couple hundredths of an inch taller than the rest.
