RE: Aftermarket radio on an EG
Hey
I spoke to Mike last night, and the move is stressin him out--cause he knew there would be situations like yours. Having done a big move last March I can tell you there is NO good time to move! All you can do is work your way through it. Mikes a stand up guy, and Im sure as others have said--you will get taken care of.....
Cheers--PEZ

Thanks for all the input, i am sure you all know how frustrating it is when a project that should take 3-4 weeks drags out to 6-8 weeks. I am finally getting things back from the painter and my ride is startgin to look like a motorcycle again.
PEZ...(I assume this is the Pez from hogtunes)...your speakers sound great!!!!
I am sure Mike from Biketronics will get me going sooner rather than later, at least I have narrowed the problem down to being a bad module (hopefully). Go figure I get the one out of 1000 that doesnt work.

JB, I notice your bike is a police EG. What did you do for the audio harness since the police bikes don't come with one? Mike is a patient guy, but, according to him, these police bikes have more than their share of problems with the Biketronics unit--and it's not the Biketronics unit that is the problem, usually.
I am in the midst of a Biketronics install on my '04 FLHTPI, wired up my AMP audio plug and was certain I had done everything correctly. Connected up the Biketronics unit and no power to the radio; haven't gotten as far as whether I have handlebar controls, yet. Had anaudio shop check out my audio plug for power in the right slots and it checked out. Checked the Sony plug at the end of the Biketronics unit and it was only providing 1/2 volt where it needed 12. Mikehad me ship the interface unit back to him and he quickly checked it out earlier this week; on his test benchand on a bike--interface worked fine. So he is sending it back to me.
He told me he wasn't going to sell any more interface unitsfor police bikes asthey take so much time after the sale--with guys like me who have problems, thinking it's the interface unit and frequently isn't. Hopefully, he was just stressed out by the move--but, he was perfectly cool with me on the phone and I hated sending the unit back to him since he had told me when he sold it to me that he doesn't like selling them to police model owners because of theissues he has had in the past.
Hope you get your install completed successfully; but, don't be surprised if Mike let's you know that the interface unit checked out fine. Then you can scratch you head and try to figure out where the wiring gremlins are hiding in your bike.

RE: Aftermarket radio on an EG
Although this was originally a police bike, i have replace the main wire harness and the fairing wire harness to a stock ultra harness, so for all practical purposes, this is a EG standard as the standards come with the same wire harness as the EG classics and EG ultras. The ultras have a ultra harness that powers the intercom and rear speakers, etc. Only the top open sadddle bags are a 'give away' that this was ever a police bike.
Thanks for all the suggestions, i will wait on Mike to get moved to his new location and send him my module for troubleshooting. Now it definatley looks like a bad module.

Try disconnecting your battery, Negitive cable first and then the positive cable. Hold the ends of the battery cables together for a few seconds; While disconnected. This will reset the module. Connect the battery cables; positive then negitive. Now go through the setup procedures in the biketronics instructions.
