Default Questions about an 06 SG with a 113

Im new to the forums, been reading lots of good info. I know its near the end of the riding season, (here in Montana it could snow next month) so I thought I could get a good deal on an upgrade. I currently ride a 06 softail standard with the 88 EFI. I would like to get more of a touring bike. Not sure I want to go Ultra (im only 38 still a kid). I like the new street glides for sure. While I was in the local dealer store he showed me an 06 street glide that the owner had built. It has a 113 with screamin eagle pipes, programmer, and AC. Has 9000 miles on it. The only option it is missing is the cruise. I really wanted cruise, but hey, Ive been riding my old bike with no cruise I suppose I can let it go.The other bikes I was looking at were both ultras, with removable trunks. So they almost look street glidish but not really. Here are some questions.
1 Can this be reliable? Am I asking for long term problems?
2 Is the cruise worth it?
3 Is the technology in the newer bikes 11' 12' 13 worth the extra money?
4 Can the ultra be made to look as cool as the street glide? It sure has a lot of option, but on my test ride, the seat of the pants feel was that it was kinda doggy.
5 Whats it take to make a 11' with a 96 feel quicker?

Im still reading and searching, thanks for any info.

think ABS too.

the difference between an ultra and a street glide is really just taking off some plastic and trim...

some of us have "convertible bikes", loaded for touring and stripped ( ish) for in town.

I like the look of the stripped down ultras. If I get one and add a stage 1 to the 96 can I make it run? I found great deal on an 11. Im tore between the 11 ultra and the 06 Street glide with big motor. Im partial to the cruise. Do the 11s have ABS?

Certain 11 models have ABS as an option. I have a 2011 Street Glide with the 103" power pak... Nice way of saying a 103" with automatic compression releases, cruise and ABS. I love my bike, but I would be tempted by that. 113"

Check out a used police bike. 103", oil cooler standard. Can usually get them pretty cheap and can be easily made to look like a street glide
