Default Another seat question; Saddlemen Road Sofa

I called Mean City to see what they would charge to redo my stock seat. I wanted to do the full monty; driver seat, passenger seat, recover, etc. Price is about $ 550.00 plus shipping to and from. I can purchase a Saddlemen Road Sofa seat with backrest for under $ 600.00 off eBay. My question is; Is there that much difference between what Mean City will provide as oppose to purchasing the Saddlemen Road Sofa.

Thoughts!!

I tried a road sofa. I hated it. It is huge and sat me and the wife up much higher. She was high enough that the medium height backrest was too short for her. It changed the center of gravity to have us up higher.

They took it back for a full refund. All it cost me was shipping to find out I didn't like that seat.

this is the 3rd roadsofa I have had, wore one out on the last bike and had to get a new one, about 75000 miles, that was a Yamaha Venture, when I bought my 05 Ultra the wife told me she was not going on any long trips with the stock seat, it was the 1st thing I upgraded on the bike, once it is broke in, about 1000 - 2000 miles, it feels a lot better, it is wider than stock so it feels taller but your feet are out futher when you are holding the bike up when I put the 944 shocks on it lowered the rear of the bike about 1 in and now I'm flat footed at a stop, everyone I know who has one love it, after it gets broke in,

...... i've been running my Sofa for 6 yrs now, it has the built in backrest which is very supportive.
.... rode it on a round trip to Nebraska a couple weeks ago, 500 miles, 10 hrs each way & no issues.

They make a low profile Saddleman Sofa but state it lowers you 1 1\2 in from stock. Would you recommend the low profile? I am 6'2'' and my feet are flat on the ground with the stock seat so....would you recommend the standard or low profile Saddlemen?

I'm 6' and the standard one is just fine, my one buddy got the low profile one and has the lowering kit on his bike and loves it but he is also 5'8" so at 6'2" I would say no to the low profile, but if you do want to sit lower give it a try, most places will let you return it just call them before you order
