Old School Harleys didn't use any lube in the primary...crankcase was vented to a tube which carried mist to the primary chain...then dripped out the bottom on the cover to the road.

And you "know" its better, how? Are you a petroleum engineer? Just curious how people gain all this expert knowledge.

Your bike, your way. I'll say, go with it & get back to us with the results. I'm thinking it'll be real soon.

JASO-MA (motorcycle approved) just means the oil has no friction modifiers added that would cause an engine oil submersed clutch to slip. Since the Harley has a separate primary with it's own oil supply (unlike 95% of motorcycles) using JASO-MA approved oil in a Harley is a moot point. In fact it would probably be better not to use it since the additional friction modifiers of a car oil should be benifititial without the issue of a wet clutch.

"He said it "thinned out the mix". Maybe a little Maker's Mark in the primary wouldn't hurt."

Waste of Good Bourbon!

Picked up a couple bottles of Makers 46 for T&O Drags this weekend. Gonna be our 34th anniversary. I will be part of the entertainment this year. "P/D 83", RIP Gary.
