My boss had the same noise and yes it was the compensator on his 09 SG replaced with SE to the tune of $600

Pull out that Hayden Tensioner and check the two springs. I just did the same thing and found the larger spring broken. I just reinstalled the HD oem tensioner back on my bike the noise is gone.

Stock not the SE, though I've read that there were problems with those too. I replaced mine with another stock unit after reading about similar problems with the SE. Guess I'll find out with my 11 Limited I think that comes stock with the SE compensator.
